FAQ

Is minting really free?

There is no OUROS mint price. You pay the Cardano network fee on the mint transaction, same as any other tx.

Do hardware wallets work?

Any CIP-30-capable hardware wallet works. A hardware wallet can also be linked to the same account as a hot wallet so that logging in to do daily tasks is faster and easier, while the actual minted assets are secured by the hardware wallet.

Do I need to keep the site open?

No. Transact as you already do. Come back to claim snacks and feed. Epochs still pass while you’re away; the two-level cap still applies when you return.

Why does my hatchling look like someone else’s?

Early stages share a small set of parts. Palette and background do most of the work until fledgling and later stages of growth.

Can I rename my creature?

No, names are permanently assigned at mint (Ouros # plus a short id), and moderating player-assigned names would be a headache.

What if I send the NFT to a new wallet?

If it is tradeable, it is a normal CIP-68 asset and will live in the destination wallet. That wallet can then log in to create its own account; or the wallet can be linked to an existing account. If it is not tradeable, expect quarantine and if the destination wallet never links to the sending wallet's account or the NFT is not sent back, the creature will die. Link wallets on ouros.club before moving young creatures to a new wallet.

Where do the pictures live?

cdn.ouros.club/<asset>.gif. The URL is written once at mint, but the actual image is regenerated according to its seed and growth stats every request - never stored as a static file on a server. Wallets and explorers cache aggressively; a level-up or evolution can take a few hours (or a cache purge) to be reflected everywhere.
